The Lockie Milner Affair- inspiring

Yesterday afternoon the shul honored a long-time friend, Dr. Lockie Milner. The highlight of the evening was the presentation given by Mayor Cohen to Dr. Milner of a certificate declaring October 28, 2007 as "Lockie Milner Day in Newton".
But perhaps what was most touching were the wonderful words of admiration for a man who is not only an accomplished physician but is also a true mensch in every sense of the word. Gentle and unassuming, Lockie Milner is an example of the best that this community has to offer. Accompanied by his 93 year old mother, his wife, children and dear friends, Lockie responded to the kind words from the Rabbi, his mentors and friends with love and friendship for our small shul. It was a wonderful evening and a well-deserved award!
I want to give a special thanks to Beri Gilfix, the Event Chair, for doing such a wonderful job organizing the caterer, the program book, the speakers, the flowers....everything. It was great. Thank you!
